Candidates are required immediately to fill two vacancies in Hong Kong for Assistant Superinten dents of Police, salary £400 per ammum for the first two years, then £520 £1,050 by six annual increments of £25, one of £90, five of £30, one of £40 and two of £50 (salary subject to revision on the recommendation of the Salaries Commission). Non-pensiopable residential allowance at rate of 10% en first £400, 5% an second £400 and 21% on any balance up to maximum of £1,200 per annum is payable while officer is in actual residence in the Colory, and temporary non-pensionable high cost of living allowance is payable at rate of £250 per ammus for a married officer er £200 for a single officer on a salary of £400. On a salary of £1,050 the rates are 2260 and £120. Salaries subject to local taxation. If unfurnished Government quarters provided 12% is deducted from salary; if furnished Government quarters provided an extra 1% is deducted, Allowance made if Government quarters net available. Housing conditions still far from satisfactory in Hong Kong and candidates may be compelled to live under somewhat austere conditions for next year or two. Pension constant 1/600th and normal retiring age 55 but in special circumstances may retire or be called upon to retire at 50. Officers required to contribute towards Widows' and Orphans' Pension Scheme at rate of 1% of salary, unless exempted or partially exempted through contributions to approved schome elsewhere.
